BRUCE IRVIN

Coach Irvin has been the Athletic Director at Maclay for 31 years, and has held numerous coaching positions at the school. He has been the Junior Varsity Soccer and Basketball coach as well as Varsity Baseball and Girls and Boys Varsity Soccer Coach over the developmental years for the Marauders. Coach Irvin retired recently from the Varsity Boys Soccer program with a lifetime record of 251-108-44.

Coach Irvin has been honored by the Tallahassee Democrat as the coach of the year for both the boys and girls Soccer teams. He was also involved with the Florida Athletic Coaches Association as the Assistant State Coordinator for Fall soccer teams and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Florida Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association for which he served as the District 3 representative to the Board of Directors for 1992-93 & 1999-2001 and an at-large representative 2002-2005. Mr Irvin also was elected for a two-year term on the FHSAA Representative Assembly for 1999 and 2000 and is now serving a 3 year term on the Board of Directors. He is now serving his second stint as the District 2 Private school representative with the FHSAA Representative Assembly.

Coach Irvin is most proud of the achievements of the overall Athletic program at Maclay as the boys and girls teams have been awarded the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Carey E. McDonald "Athletic Program of the Year" ten times- never ranked below fifth in the last 20 years of the poll. Maclay teams have won thirty two State FHSAA Titles and have been awarded the FHSAA Fred E. Rozelle Award for the Outstanding 1A program in 1995-96 and 2A in 1996-97 and 1997-98 as well as the Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award in 1999 and 2001.
